I finally got fed up with troubleshooting my upgrade from 0074 to 0089, and just removed all the checks from the update script.  I used the tpt for about a day after that with no apparent problems. So I went ahead and deleted all the checks for upgrade to ics. I haven't actually been using it much lately so I figured what the hell!  The upgrade went ok, it even rebooted and I've got working ics. But since I allowed the update to patch files that shouldn't have been, none of my google apps work, including market.  I can install apps from the Lenovo app shop but not the market, I can side load too.  I get repeated android.process.acore and android.process.media errors.

I can't decide if I'll just live with it and see what happens with rom development, or send it in for a fix.

I have flipped from CWM Recovery to stock, made sure I have the correct BusyBox (1.16) in terminal mode. I have downloaded the two 121-ROW files (ZIP and XML) and when I try to flash the package from the external-SD I get the following:

--Install /sdcard
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system..
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/FlexT9ChineseIME.apk". "7f09bdbd9e20bae507398a51e34fa8e609cef5e". "222668fd99a68906eb4d678c3795801ea0698bd")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted

Sure hope someone can point me in the right direction.  This has to be the most cantankerous device I have ever encountered.

Yes, I am running 89-ROW.

Could someone please send me their /system/app/FlexT9ChineseIME.apk from 0089-ROW.  I think this is all I need to get cracking.  I have the apk.p (patch file) but that is useless.
Thanks

Have a look here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/4xrzd3f44mor/n/FlexT9ChineseIME_apk

Got it from : http://forum.xdadevelopers.info/showthread.php?p=28027794 All system apps can be found there from a ROW image. Have to go through a Russian File share site, bit hard to figure out if you are not conversant with russian... ;)

@gaohan: I owe you big time. ICS installed cleanly after your download APK.
Thank you and S.Prime for sharing so much.

Current CWM recovery is not compatible with ICS. So unless you can port it yourself, I am afraid you'll have to wait a bit more... (Just like me... ;))

Yes ... but I don't think it will take long now that the TPT is gaining market acceptance.

I'm waiting to upgrade until CWM. Please post if you find anything. Only thing that makes my TPT worth anything is root and CWM. I won't give up either.

Quite frankly, besides making a backup of the whole image, which I have done exactly once, I don't really see much use for CWM. Please enlighten me if I see this incorrectly.

I would still like the ability to have a nandroid backup with CWM and a chance at a custom rom down the road.

Pretty much ... although for Google phones it is great for flashing tools like Dalvik-Wiper, and different kernels and ROMs.

Different strokes... I use it a lot more than you.
