There have been several bounties posted on XDA that were $400+.
The largest I've seen is bounty to port Android to the HP TouchPad was $2000.

It would be interesting to know how much interest the bounties generated at XDA.

I'm still surprised about that.  Eventually when there's a ThinkPad Tablet 2, 3 etc with options for either Android or Windows 8/Metro, Lenovo tablets will have a big following.  Their CEO has even stated that the tablet market is a priority and they are already the #2 PC manufacturer behind HP and gaining fast.  They have the scale and the dollars to be a big player in the tablet market just like they do in the laptop market.

I'm disgusted with the moderators at XDA.  They come across as rude and condescending.  They also seem to have something against the TPT.  The TPT has held the top spot for almost the whole duration of the thread and when it didn't they created forums for those devices.
RootzWiki doesn't have as many members as XDA but the mods out there are great and it is more relaxed atmosphere especially for the noob.

I really dint understand the resistance in creating an forum section for the TPT. I've seen many sites having this on top ranks.

I guess sometimes, ppl get so sentimentally attached to their own device that they will blindly defend their device as the "best there is".

Now with the bounty figures. Besides whatever we can gather for the successful exploiter, that person should open a Donation channel so he can receive additional funds frim future and current users. In the iOS jailbreaking community, Comex (the only guy that successfully crashed the 4.3 iPad JB) collected $40k for his jailbreakme2.0 and around $15k for his version 3.0. I really hope that we don't need that level of motivation...

Why the big words, when simply a diminutive utterance will suffice!!!

I don't think the bounty would ever reach those figures on an android device being that its open source and far simpler to root the devices I can't think of a device that that has not been rooted even the RIM Playbook got rooted

I already got one on XDA  for the Motorola Photon for $100, whats another few bucks.

Current total is $395 so put me in for $105 to make it an even Total $500.

Hopefully some Chinese developer takes pity on us souls and leaks the keys for the ThinkPad and a developer here provides the details on cracking this damn thing.

Thanks for the pledge twospirits.  Maybe my math is wrong but it brings us up to $480.  Hopefully someone will have the incentive to root this.
