Have you looked at battery usage to see the sources of your power drain. Also what do you classify as a few hours of usage?

Not to bring up the obvious, but you did not mention it specifically... what does your battery usage indicate?

I use mine regularly throughout the day, poking around random stuff, listen to music (sometimes streaming, sometimes not) and usually have the WiFi on at work. I might get down to 75% or so at the end of the day. Oh, that is hooked up to the keyboard folio as well, so some small amount of power there.

I would bet the USB might be a big contributor to the battery drain. You can see the specifics by going to Settings -> Applications -> Battery Use to see the biggest culprits.

They might not have a charger per se, but there is a docking station that holds the TPT in portrait orientation and uses the connector on the side (bottom) to charge. It also include one full and one mini USB port and mic/headphone jacks. Here is a quick pic (apologies for the cruddy shot):

Cfdevkev is correct your external usb drive is being powered by your tablet's battery so you are creating a huge power drain. Switch to a sdcard and you should see a big improvement. I got my 32 gig sdcard from Amazon for about $53.

thanks for the tip on viewing the battery usage utility
one thing that helped immediately was putting the display brightness on auto..

however im still slightly concerned that my tablet is defective
when charging i turn off the tablet (sleep) but the screen will come on & off randomly
has anyone exp this issue? im wondering if this is preventing a faster re-charge

s.prime- whats the max SD supported by TPT?

thanks for the help thus far

What do you mean by randomly? Just trying to narrow down what is actually happening...

I have not noticed my screen turning on and off. I have mine to leave the screen on when charging, but if I turn it off it stays off. Maybe you have an app installed that is using the "prevent sleep" permission?

I have used up to a 32 gig SDcard, but have not tested anything above that. If anyone has used an "SDcard" above 32 gig could you post the results. This is the one I ordered from Amazon:

Hey everyone.

It seems that one way or another, getting around battery issues is not as intuitive as one would expect from a 2011 product! Lol

Hey cfdevkev, what about that dock? Are you happy with it? It started shipping in Switzerland, but i still don't know if i should get it. How long does it take to fully charge the TPT's battery?

Do y'all think it is worth the jump? Or rather wait for 3rd party chargers that make use of the docking port?

Thanks!

The dock is nothing special - no extra ports or anything - but it is supposed to charge faster. I still have not properly tested... apologies for that.

I will try to do that for a comparison!

I agree that the dock is nothing special, considering it does not have an HDMI port to allow video viewing on a big screen while charging. At this point, I do believe it is a poorly designed accessory and its saving grace, is that it will give you a faster charging experience on your TPT. Unfortunately at this point it is our only rapid charge solution.

Can you expand on that suggestion?

Every week or so I like to clear the cache and I happen to get excellent battery life don't know if it'll help but it can't hurt
