Is it possible to reject OTA updates?
« on: June 02, 2012, 10:10:40 PM »
Reading the Lenovo forums, it sounds like there may be some fairly significant issues with the OTA3 update. How do these work? Are they automatically applied or are you prompted to install with the ability to say no? As a new TPT user, I am actually quite happy with the performance and battery life of my tablet, and may be more inclined to wait until some of these issues are worked out if given the option.

Thanks, DigiDAD

No, your tablet will not install or download without you telling it to do so. In order to trigger an update you have to go to Settings>About>Check for updates. Just stay away from that area in the Settings section.

Some are notified, some not. In either case you have the option to reject.

Some may also not choose to take the ICS update because they're happy with how their tablet works now and aren't interested in the new features of ICS. "Upgrading" any system that already works increases the chances of things not working anymore. It's like the old saying "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

I think most people will want ICS but for those that don't, I feel it's a perfectly reasonable option.

I installed OTA 3 and successfully preserved root with Rootkeeper.
