Had to factory reset my tablet
« on: December 12, 2011, 03:48:39 PM »
All of a sudden, everything started crashing and nothing would work.  I tried to take out all non-essential apps, stop processes, clear data, but no luck.

Right now the included apps are reinstalling from the reset.  I hope this fixes the problem.

So far everything seems kosher now.  I'm hope the various app stores remember purchases so I don't lose apps I paid for.

I probably created an error out of a recently installed app.  I do tend to install some freebies from Amazon and try them out.

Only downer is I lost a lot of data.  I need to do better on backing up.

I have never had a problem reinstalling Apps from Android Market or Amazon, but I would be interested in hearing if Lenovo Shop retains your Apps for reinstallation.

Would clearing the data and cache of Lenovo APPstore App equate to a hard factory restore as far as the app remembering your purchase history is concerned?

If it does, then I've done that twice and It remembered all my previous purchases.

This is the first time this happened.  The downer is I lost a bunch of notes I had in ColorNote and stuff I put in Notes Mobile.

I'm keeping things leaner now.  I think what happened simply was all the different apps I had installed finally built up a massive conflict that the Honeycomb system couldn't remedy.  Now I'm not putting in all these apps that I'm not using too much and just sticking with what I'm going to use regularly.

I'm also trying to "cloud" my data.  Thinking I might use Google Docs over ColorNote and even find a way to tie my Notes Mobile stuff to something "cloud".

Any suggestions?

I like GNotes.  It syncs really fast, and you can attach PDFs so you can re-download and edit them with EzPDF Reader.  It's not perfect, but it's private, vector, and relaible.
