Author Topic: Stoppy Pen, stylus not working, randomly (Read 6449 times)

Hi folks,

I use my TPT a lot at work, on meetings, and take notes with Quill.
Since 2 month my stylus tends not to work sometimes, randomly, and never found a way to be sure he's going to work, and I .. miss my note 33% times .. I even changed my battery AAAA on the stylus, didn't changed anything.

Do anyone of you have a clue about this issue ?

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that you're not on your own with this problem. It happens to me too. I usually panic and unscrew the cap off and put it back on but that still doesn't work so I click on the homepage and keep trying to make it work until it does then I resume taking notes. It's annoying but luckily it doesn't happen too much to me. I hope someone has a real solution to this problem.

I wonder if the upgrade to ICS has done something to it, or if some application exists in order to debug the stylus issue.

I'm still on the honeycomb version. I didn't upgrade to ICS yet so that shouldn't be the problem or at least I don't. It may be the problem if your running into this issue very often.

But it works when I select " pen only mode " but I also loss the convenience of using my fingers ..
My stylus tends also to draw a line between two pen strokes, making the writing kinda messy ..

I hope this issue will be solved soon, somehow

I have the issue to, my only workaround without turning off touch input, is not to rest my hand on the screen.

Try it, some experts claim that you use your forearm and shoulder muscles when writing without resting your hand so your handwriting improves.

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was after my upgrade to ICS but sounds like that might not be it. I use Lecturenotes for writing and the stylus "skipping" seems to be worse when i use the pen only mode. Lecturenotes is great at rejecting my palm, so that part is not a problem. The issue is that the stylus stops marking for a while until i scribble somewhere else on the screen and then resumes after a bit.

It's exactly the same issue I had (stoppy pen). Whenever it occurs again, restart the app, try lifting your palm and have nothing but the pen tip touch the screen and you'll notice the difference.

Some so-so-tech guys at the Lenovo Forums believe that the pen-only layer of the screen conflict with the touch layer. Not quite sure if the OTA 3.5 (which Lenovo claims will cure the issue) will actually deal with it completely. Best, don't rest your palm, or use a glove

I experienced a similar issue with my HTC Flyer which uses the N-Trig screen and was constantly taking out the battery and turning off the tablet to reset the screen and finally get it to work without skipping. After getting my TPT, I decided to try my TPT stylus on the Flyer and the issue went away, so now when I want to write on the Flyer, I just use my stylus from the TPT. I refuse to buy a replacement stylus for the Flyer after paying $80 for the original one and chalk it up to one of the growing experiences that we have all seen with Android tablets and I am sure we will see more. If you can try another pen, you may be able to get it covered under warranty.

Well, the stylus only mode doesn't solve the problem, as well I've tried the glove ..
Strange they can't find a way to solve this issue .. I wonder if i can revert to previous system, if it is going to work, or not, at all ..

Tried the glove, tried to restart, tried to display cursor in developpers options ..
I'm wondering if I revert the tablet to original honeycomb os, If it's going to work then

Maybe Shall someone put this issue in front of lenovo devs / tech guys ?
The more we report the issue, the faster it'll be solved

I'm tending to confirm if I don't shut down the screen, the less the screen is shuted down, the more the stylus works

I don't know if this is my imagination, but if I slow down my writing, the stylus seems to skip less. Not perfect, but better.
